Remove Metadata from Adobe Firefly Images

Why Remove Metadata from Adobe Firefly Images?
Adobe Firefly images contain Content Credentials (C2PA metadata) that identify them as AI-generated. Adobe helped create the C2PA standard, so Firefly images have robust provenance data embedded. While transparency is valuable, there are legitimate reasons to remove this metadata:
- Client work: Deliver clean assets without AI provenance markers
- Privacy: Content Credentials can include your Adobe account information
- Compatibility: Some platforms or workflows don’t handle C2PA metadata well
- File size: Stripping metadata reduces file size
How This Tool Works
This tool uses your browser’s built-in Canvas API to process images. When you upload an image:
- The file is read entirely in your browser
- It’s drawn to an HTML canvas element
- The canvas exports a new image file
This process inherently strips all metadata because the Canvas API only preserves pixel data, not file metadata. Your images never leave your device.
About Adobe Firefly Filenames
Adobe Firefly images are typically downloaded with filenames like Firefly_generated_image.jpg or include Firefly-specific identifiers that reveal the AI source. Even after stripping Content Credentials, this filename can identify where the image came from.
Enable “Use generic filenames” above to rename your downloads to neutral names like img_k9m_1.png. Each batch of images gets a unique identifier so files won’t overwrite previous downloads.
Supported Formats
- PNG - Lossless, best for graphics and screenshots
- JPEG - Compressed, best for photos
- WebP - Modern format with good compression
